The DOE Isotope Program recently hosted a first-of-its-kind Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) workshop, bringing together 80 leading researchers from across the country at Los Alamos National Laboratory. This event fostered collaboration on how AI/ML can optimize production methods, reduce costs, and accelerate the processing of critical short-lived isotopes—all while increasing safety and reducing reliance on foreign supply chains.

The workshop underscored the importance of strategic investments in these technologies that will transform the landscape of isotope safety, innovation and availability.
